The Vega is a new generation launcher that will enable Italy and Europe to join the group of countries in possession of a space vehicle. The goals of the Vega launch system were defined by ESA as a function of regional needs and market requirements: to secure for Europe self-sufficiency in accessing space thanks to a specially designed family of small-sized launchers. Flexible, reliable and economical, the Vega launcher was conceived to extend access to space to private customers as well as any organisation that could not easily use Soyuz and Ariane 5 class European launchers intended for bigger satellites. With a wide range of payload configurations and the ability to support a diversified range of missions, Vega is an innovative product opening up significant opportunities in the market it is meant for. |
